Donald Craghead

Donald Craghead's canvases are filled with the dramatic landscapes that surround his Carmel home. He was wooed to the Monterey Peninsula from Illinois nearly three decades ago when he fell in love with California's golden hills and old oak trees. Their combination of angles, shadows and contrasting colors present a beauty not found anywhere else in the United States. Although he drew from an early age, his painting style developed under the guidance of premier plein air landscape painters such as Scott Christensen, Michael Albrechtsen, Ovanes Berberian, Robert Moore and others. Long a presence in the Carmel art community, Donald Craghead was honored to have been selected as one of the artists included in the California Heritage Gallery of San Francisco's exhibition "Carmel Artists, Past and Present". Corporate collections include Salinas Valley Hospital, San Gabriel Country Club and Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley.
