LINDY DUNCAN
American

Lindy Duncan was born in Montreal, Canada, and moved to California at an early age. Her interest in art was encouraged by her High School instructor, but for many years Lindy set her brushes aside in favor of raising a family. Her artistic interests were opened up again when her father invited Lindy to join him in a sculpting class. It was as if a floodgate had been opened, and she began studying art in earnest. A traditional introduction to plein air painting was provided by the academy plein air painters, while her work is influenced by her study of early California and Russian painters, as well as many contemporary artists.

Lindy has won numerous awards, including a First Place Oils, in the 2000 Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, CA, and First Place Oils in the Best & Brightest show 2001, Scottsdale Artist School, Scottsdale, AZ, as well as three awards in Plein Air Tucson 2001. She has also participated in the Carmel Art Festival Plein Air Event in 2003, 2004 & 2006, in Carmel, CA. Living in the Monterey Bay area her vibrant, assured paintings depict local scenes with a richness of color and light, that seems to vibrate on the canvas. One of California's brightest talents she is Juried Artist Member of the California Art Club, a signature member of En Couleur, a group of six Californian colorists, and an artist member of the Oil Painters of America
