BERNARD WYNNE
American
(1920-2009)
Bernard Wynne was born in Indianapolis,
Indiana in 1920. His superior artistic talent was evident by the age of
fourteen, and by the age of thirty Wynne was listed in “Who's Who
in American Art.”
He studied with such recognized names such as: James Chapin and Ejnar
Hansen of the Pasadena Art Institute; S. MacDonald Wright and Norman Rockwell
at Los Angeles County Art Institute. In fact, among contemporary landscape
artists he has one of the strongest academic backgrounds in fine art.
Wynne's demanding technique permitted him to create only a small number
of paintings each year, making them even that much more valuable. His
canvases display the painstaking detail reveling countless dots of numerous
colors applied with the palette knife. While he put utmost care and importance
in every detail, he allowed the color to dance with the interaction of
light… creating movement and depth.
Mr. Wynne travelled throughout the country numerous times each year in
search of inspiration. Through his paintings he celebrateed the beauty
of our National Parks, like Yosemite's mountains and streams; the High
Desert's rocky terrain; tree lined lanes of southern plantations; the
rugged Big Sur on California's coast. Yet, he didn't forget his European
heritage painting stately castles of Ireland, chateaus of France, or the
romantic gardens of Giverny.
